⚡Solid Health Is Like Electricity: We Don’t Think Much About It—Until It’s Threatened
When the power’s flowing, we don’t think about it.
We flip a switch, plug something in, and the lights come on.
Effortless. Reliable. Constant.
Until it isn’t.
Then suddenly, simple daily tasks becomes complicated.
We light candles, stumble through dark rooms, and marvel at how we took power for granted.
Our health works in the same way.
When the Power’s On
When you have solid health, life feels “plugged in.”
You wake up with energy. You move without wincing. You trust your body to support your plans.
You might even forget how many things have to be working just right for that to happen:
A heart that beats in rhythm
Lungs that quietly oxygenate every cell
Joints that bend, muscles that carry, nerves that fire
Organs that process and then excrete waste products
It’s easy to overlook these things when they’re running smoothly—like the hidden wires behind your homes’ walls keeping everything humming along. (Check out this powerful one-minute video that dramatically depicts the difference that a proactive vs. reactive approach can make.)
When the Power Goes Out
But when something breaks down—when pain creeps in, energy drops, or a diagnosis arrives—suddenly the outage gets your full attention.
I urge you to not ignore your body’s “warning lights.” (Get my infographic of staying in balance with healthy daily minimums and maximums HERE.)
That’s often when we humans realize:
“I’ve been flipping the switch, but not maintaining the system.”
The good news?
Just like with electricity, there are ways to minimize and even prevent outages and restore power.
Keeping the Current Strong
You don’t have to overhaul everything at once. (Those modifications rarely stick.) Small, consistent maintenance keeps your body’s energy grid strong:
Fuel smartly: Choose foods that nourish, not just fill or light up tastebuds. (Get my healthier grocery shopping guide HERE.)
Move regularly: Keep your circuits active—movement is a daily recharge for both the body and mind. (Ladies- get the low-down on why you want regular strength training in your exercise routine HERE.)
Rest deeply: Downtime isn’t wasted time; it’s how the system resets much like plugging in our phones overnight.
Check in: Regular health screenings and mindful self-awareness help you catch small issues before they become blackouts.
Minimize Outages
The client friends I partner with often say, “I didn’t realize how good I felt until I stopped feeling that way.”
You don’t have to wait for the power to flicker to appreciate the current.
I invite you to take a moment to pause today and feel gratitude for the simple, quiet miracle of things working according to their design.
Because solid health is like electricity—you may not notice it every day, but it’s the energy that powers everything.
