Aging with Vibrancy
Having just celebrated Mother’s Day, I’ve found myself counting my blessings a little more deeply this year.
Both of my parents are still here with me and preparing to celebrate their 90th birthdays in just a few months. And truthfully, it could have gone very differently.
When I was growing up, they were both pack-a-day smokers. But more than 25 years ago, together they made a powerful decision: to take charge of their health and invest in their future.
I am confident that single choice changed the trajectory of their lives and all who care for them. It would have been easy for them to keep being chained to the habit. They allowed themselves to feel uncomfortable in the quitting process and the dividends have been huge.
Their story is a simple reminder that the small, consistent decisions we make for our wellbeing matter more than we often realize. They shape not only how long we live, but how fully we get to live.
