Defining Self-Love

As we embrace the final month of 2025, I invite you to reflect on the relationship you have with yourself. What do you feel proud of? Are there areas that need improvement?

In my younger years, I didn’t have a clue about what self love meant or looked like in action. It seemed like a selfish or conceded concept to me. After many years of not treating myself very kindly, I began to shift and adopt more loving self-care practices. I let go of things that felt good to me in the moment, but ultimately degraded my health. These decisions and changes weren’t easy, but my long term health is now a foundational, strong platform for my longevity.

This acronym about self love can be a positive place to begin or simply check in about where you are …

S – Support Your Body
Nourish yourself with food, movement, and rest that genuinely helps you feel better.

E – Engage in Mindfulness
Pause, breathe, and notice what your body and mind are asking for.

L – Listen to Your Needs
Honor your hunger, fullness, energy, and emotional cues with compassion—not judgment. (DM me to get a graphic depicting a hunger scale you can use to develop the skill of being more connected to your hunger.)

F – Fuel with Intention
Choose habits that give you steady energy, better sleep, and improved mood.

L – Let Go of Perfection
Progress, not perfection, is what leads to sustainable change.

O – Own Your Choices
Make decisions that prioritize your long-term health over quick fixes or extreme ‘solutions

V- Value Your Well-Being
Recognize that your health is worth time, attention, and care every day.

E – Empower Yourself
Build habits that help you feel strong, capable, and confident in your body. (This downloadable infographic can help with guidance for health daily minimums and maximums.)

At WhyPowered Health Coaching I personally guide and encourage you with small steps that turn into solid habits for real and lasting results. No diets, no extremes. (Click HERE to see how coaching stacks up to diets.)
