Your Personal CEO Role

Right now, most people I talk to are feeling overwhelmed and like their health is one more thing on an already impossibly long and demanding daily to-do list.

TRUTH

Your health is not competing with your life demands. It’s the foundation supporting it.

When we’re chronically stressed and constantly “on” and in “go-mode,” we often wait for the perfect time to prioritize ourselves. But that time rarely appears. The breakthrough usually comes when we stop trying to overhaul everything and start proving to ourselves that every small actions we take matters. (Check out this infographic of healthy daily minimums and maximums to keep us in good balance and health.)

I encourage you to start taking those baby steps in favor of our health. Look for a few repeatable moments of self-respect each day. And celebrate them each time you take them.

  • A five to 10-minute walk (click here for my steps to make exercise stick)

  • A real lunch instead of skipped meals or something from a drive thru

  • Going to bed 30 minutes earlier

  • Pausing to breathe and stepping away from your screen even for a minute on a recurring basis throughout the day

These may seem small, but small habits are how you rebuild trust with yourself.

A few final reminders

  • Exhaustion is not a badge of honor

  • Productivity without health eventually has a cost

  • Taking care of yourself is not selfish; it’s responsible adulting

  • Energy creates momentum. Momentum creates motivation — not the other way around

And perhaps most importantly:

Remember, you do not have to become a different person overnight. Key is not abandoning yourself while taking care of everything else.

Focus less on “How do I change my whole life?” and more on:

“What is one thing I can do today that would make me feel better physically and/or mentally?”

Sustainable transformation is rarely dramatic. It’s built through consistent, imperfect action repeated long enough to become identity. (click here to see how coaching compares to diets for lasting weight loss.)

Take charge of your wellness. Your CEO role is calling you and the perks are priceless.
